Technium Challenge Winners Reveal Big Plans for Wales

This year's winners of Technium Challenge, the UK-wide competition aimed at generating inward investment for Wales, has confirmed plans to create new jobs in Wales.

Bristol-based web and mobile start up company, Loccit, has scooped the Technium Challenge Prize for Business Innovation and has immediately set its sights on setting up a base in one of Wales' world-class Technium incubation centres with a view to increasing staff numbers threefold by the first quarter of 2011.

Smartkem Wins Gold at Inaugural Best of British Innovation Award at Venturefest 2010

SmartKem Ltd were awarded gold at the Venturefest 2010 Best of British Innovation Award. The Technium OpTIC based company develops novel materials and processes that create high resolution microelectronic components directly onto thin flexible materials. This prestigious award recognises SmartKem as one of the year's most exciting technology businesses for its innovative new printed electronics solution.

Wear Point Wind Farm near oil storage facility approved

The decision of Pembrokeshire County Council's Planning Committee to approve Wear Point Wind Farm near Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire is welcomed by Technium Pembrokeshire based Infinergy. When constructed the project will add enough green power to the grid to supply just over 5,500 households each year, the equivalent of 11% of homes in Pembrokeshire.

Open House Week at Technium, Baglan Energy Park

Visit Technium Sustainable Technologies at Baglan Energy park from Monday 2nd August to Friday 6th August. For the duration of this week, Technium will open its doors to anybody interested in finding out more about the centre. The centre will be open from 9am to 5pm each day with late opening until 7:30pm on the Wednesday.

Cardiff University's Gas Turbine Research Centre trains award winning team

The Cardiff School of Engineering recently picked up the 2010 Innovation Prize for their innovation in the training of the Corus workforce. Over two hundred Corus staff have been trained by the Cardiff University's Gas Turbine Research Centre (GTRC) in the basics of gas combustion at their site in Port Talbot, on a former part of the Corus site.
