At WATERS, the world influences every aspect of our creativity.

Here’s what’s happening in our world – company news, press coverage and a glimpse at what we get up to behind the scenes.

What we've been up to...

You may have noticed we have been a bit quiet so far in 2018. We’ve dialled back our online presence during spring and summer to allow us to build towards the exciting news that we’re about to share… right now.

New hires

Some of you will already know that we’ve said farewell to some longstanding Waters team members. Leah, Rhianna and Sophie have all left for pastures new and while it’s sad to see them go, we wish them all the very best in their new adventures.

This has meant we have a few new faces in the office and we’re super excited to have them on board.

Mike Leach – Creative Lead

Mike has been working closely with us since October 2017 when his company, Mike Leach Creative, started working out of our Axis Court studio. We hit it off so well that Mike joined Waters officially in July 2018 as Creative Lead and Director. Mike brings with him years’ of experience in design for both print and web, as well as an expert eye for all things branding. Having someone with Mike’s expertise on the team is a huge privilege and we look forward to sharing his insights with our clients going forward.

Jon Griffiths – Graphic Designer

Jon joined Waters in May 2018 following a 7-year stint in New Zealand as a Design/Print Manager. Having returned to Swansea with a unique perspective on design and a whole heap of ideas, Jon has hit the ground running working on a number of branding projects in his short time here. A branding obsessive with over 10 years’ design experience, he is already making big contributions to the way we work and playing an important role with our clients.

Beverley Logan – Client Account Manager

Bev has been a good friend of Waters for a number of years, so when our paths aligned in August 2018 we jumped at the chance to bring her on board to liaise with our clients and keep things running smoothly. With vast experience in client management and an enviable background in design and marketing, Bev has the exact skillset and upbeat outlook that we need to lead our clients’ ideas all the way from brief to delivery. Arriving with a mountain of cake and pastries was a great way to break the ice too.

Nadeea Miah – Artworker

Nadeea graduated from the University of South Wales in 2018 and is joining us on a three-month internship. Having already learned the essentials of design, we're looking forward to getting Nadeea involved in all things Waters and helping her make the transition into agency life. We can't wait to see what new ideas she brings to the table as she works with our team to keep delivering top-end designs to our clients.

So, just a few changes. With everyone already settled in alongside our existing team, we are in a strong position for the future… and very excited about it we are, too! Our team has the right balance of creativity and structure which enables us to continue helping our clients make meaningful connections with their audiences.

New home

To add more changes to proceedings, 2018 has also seen us make our first move since 2013. Not too far though: we’ve moved a few doors down in Axis Court to Axis 6. The main difference compared to our old office is that we have bought Axis 6 outright, allowing us to turn our studio into a purpose-built creative space. We let the interior designers in us run free and curated a high-spec environment from the wooden floors to environmentally-friendly ceiling lights, sparing no expense. After all, a high-end environment helps produce high-end work.

Since getting our hands on the keys in April 2018, we have completely renovated the space to give us a free-flowing, naturally-lit work environment – something that has already been a huge benefit to our team. We can’t stop showing off our new digs to our clients when they come here for meetings.

It’s not superstition that made us move. While Axis 13 was a great place for us to spread our wings from microbusiness to SME, Axis 6 is more attuned with who we are as a business right now and gives us the foundations to continue our growth over the next 5 years.

It still has the same quick access to the M4 and strong links with a number of our key partners, as well as being a stone’s throw away from the vibrant and ever-growing Swansea creative scene that we are so proud to be part of. As Swansea continues to thrive, so do we, and we look forward to taking our clients along for the journey.

Pop in and see us sometime! We’ll be waiting with a cuppa, ready to show you around. It’ll be a coffee from our brand new bean-to-cup coffee machine, which has been in use non-stop since we officially moved in on Monday 6th August 2018. Coaltown Coffee’s Black Gold No. 3 is our current blend of choice – delicious.

So, what does all this change mean for us? In some ways, not a lot – we still share the same collective values and thirst for creativity that keeps our clients at the heart of everything we do; but in other ways, it’s a new chapter in the Waters story with brand new characters.

Here’s to the writing the next one.
