Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner’s Plan 2025-29

Improving trust and confidence in local policing

Designing an engaging and accessible Police and Crime Plan for Dyfed-Powys

We collaborated with the Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner to design a fresh, modern, and fully accessible Police and Crime Plan for 2025-29. Our goal was to create a visually engaging and WCAG-compliant digital document, alongside a high-quality print version. To enhance relatability, we introduced a new character style that felt more engaging and contemporary, seamlessly integrating them into bespoke landscapes featuring key landmarks from across the Dyfed-Powys region. To further bring the plan to life, we produced a series of short animations, using these characters and landscapes to create an engaging visual summary for social media. Every element of the project, from the digital and print plan to the animations, was developed in both Welsh and English, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all audiences.

Prioritising accessibility and inclusivity

Accessibility and inclusivity were key in shaping the new Police and Crime Plan. We ensured the digital document met WCAG 2.1 standards while also producing a print version and animated social graphics for an even wider reach. Over 60 new characters were introduced to better reflect the community, including diverse ages, races, abilities, religious figures, same-sex couples, and a more accurate representation of the Dyfed-Powys police force. This approach makes the plan more engaging, accessible, and truly representative of those it serves.

Bringing the Police and Crime Plan to life through animation

To promote the Police and Crime Plan on social media, we developed four short animated summary videos in both Welsh and English. By transforming complex information into dynamic, easy-to-digest content, the videos help connect with a wider audience and make the plan more impactful.

Working with Waters Creative has been a fantastic experience. Their team took the time to truly understand our vision and brought it to life with creativity and attention to detail. They were incredibly patient throughout the process, making collaboration easy and stress-free. Their ability to adapt, listen, and guide us every step of the way resulted in a fresh, engaging, and fully accessible Police and Crime Plan that we are incredibly proud of. The animations, bespoke illustrations, and bilingual execution have made the plan more engaging and inclusive than ever before.”
