Using design, photography and imagery to effectively enhance written content
The TfW Annual Report is a comprehensive document that recognises the achievements and successes of 2021/22. It includes a variety of content types, such as written copy, infographics, photos, and tabulated information.
It is designed to present complex information and concepts in a clear and understandable manner that meets the needs of TfW stakeholders and the organisation’s diverse target audience.
Our primary objective was to produce a document that aligned to the brand guidelines issued by the client.
The finalised Annual Report is available to download from the Transport for Wales website
Design with good colour contrast, use of white space, legible font sizes make all documents and graphics we create accessible to the wide-ranging needs of the audience.
Where documents need to be online, we have developed a unique work-flow in order to make PDFs accessible to screen readers and other accessibility tools. This unique way of working made the Annual Report easily transferable from web to print without unnecessary versions being created. The document contained links to internal and external information and was clearly signposted throughout. An easy navigation system was key as the document is of substantial size.
As a Welsh company with Welsh speakers, we see it as our responsibility to remain aware and maintain our commitment to upholding the Standards established by the Welsh Language Commissioner as part of our work with all Welsh public sector bodies.
For this project, we worked closely with the translators on amendments and developed a workflow to manage amendments. This made the creation of the Welsh version of the document smooth and timely.
