WATERS have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Swansea University, acting as a strategic partner for over 6 years. Working as an extension to the University’s core marketing team, WATERS provides strategic support, creative direction, management and implementation across all ‘ground level’ communications projects, working across and in-partnership with various colleges and departments.

As a preferred partner, WATERS provides a wholly integrated service; brand guardianship, creative design, digital and print management.


Swansea University operates at both a UK and international level, working to ensure brand engagement and relevance with a variety of target audiences.

As a creative partner to Swansea University our primary role is to drive awareness and recruitment in what is an increasingly competitive marketplace. We are responsible for the creation and activation of tactical led messages and tailored communications to promote the appeal and ‘added value’ of the University, conveying the University proposition and making it relevant to a variety of target audiences, from a need, cultural and location perspective.

The student recruitment campaign ‘Making Waves’ was initiated in 2012 and we were required to assist in the implementation and roll out over a three year period.


Working with the Student Recruitment team we created an Open Day toolkit using creative elements of the Making Waves wider campaign.

This consisted of:

  • Open Day prospectus
  • Career/course journey maps for the College of Human and Health Science
  • Promotional giveaways – lanyards and packs
  • College specific publications and mini-guides
  • Directional large format signage


The Making Waves campaign has brought huge success for Swansea University. The campaign has strengthened the position of the University and it’s offering on a local, national and international basis.

The three-year undergraduate recruitment campaign, Making Waves, won the Canmol Educating and Training Award in 2013.
